On the Subject of Therapy

"It is almost as if you were frantically constructing another world while the world that you live in dissolves beneath your feet, and that your survival depends on completing this construction at least one second before the old habitation collapses ".
Tennessee Williams

By the way, Carol Kidd was magnificent. That Queen's Hall concert that I mentioned earlier was inspirational, confirmation of the strength that can come from making it through the "madness" .
Bubbling, bouncing, liquid song poured out over the audience. We all soaked it up like sand in a desert. By osmosis, she fed our hearts. In stocking-soled feet she convinced that "relaxed" is seriously OK, desirable , and simply possible.
Groupie-like I waited as never before, to have my CD signed - and to thank her. She had given me more than a glimpse of hope.
By sharing her own experiences so honestly she has created
her own brand of bereavement therapy.
With a reassuring clasp of my hand
she spoke words of empathy reassurance and hope.
It was there in her eyes too, I could survive, would survive
with creativity in tact.
It is a test of endurance. It will take a lot longer
than my six and a half weeks.
It 'll take time, but the music does return
if I just keep listening.

Yes, Mags. Many have made the journey before you. I know that this does not make it any easier for you but it does prove that there is a way out at the other end. How soon you get there is up to you.
Turning some of your thoughts outwards to take on board others' problems and to be ready to offer a helping hand to them is often a good beginning to your own healing.
Kep going. Every day gets a little better.
