Try Dotty's cure for a reluctant appetite.
Roast Monkfish Tail wrapped in Bacon
on a bed of Red Pesto Mash
with buttered Baby Leaf Spinach, Spring Onion and Pine Nuts.
Was that Macfarlane's smile-smacking lips we heard echoing in the ether.
I just wish we had his technique of stacking the dish-washer - one of the few secrets he kept from me.
Watch this space for more tempting delights. Wendy's Salmon and Fennel Pie with Potato Rosti Topping left plates licked clean but a degree of wine spillage rendered the table cloth a tough test for detergent.
Any evidence of stress related weight loss is challenged by these events of culinary homage. Good food, good conversation in good company - and the smell of baking bread - are welcome reminders of hilarious gatherings round a well spread table. His happy, avuncular ghost will ever be present there.
Kirstin has expressed a desire to resurrect Macfarlane's bread recipes. A legacy of flour, seeds and yeast should be brought to life this weekend.
Pannini lunch on Margaret with Fi and Chuckling Baby Niamh, filled the afternoon with pleasure.
French toast with Jeannie brought comfort to tea-time.
Not too bad a day. Not too many tears.
And a wee nightcap to finish...sh..shsh..shshshArdbeg........

This sounds like gourmet delights and we need the recipe for the red pesto mash not to mention the rest of all these tempting mouthwatering goodies. Love the picture of Portobello and am now off to the 'Images' to track down 'Culinary Cuddles'!
Glad to read that you are getting a few smiles now. See you soon
Lots Love M & M
I did post a comment yesterday after our 'wee' chat but think I got my 'q' and 'g' mixed up.
It was just to say that it's good to hear that the friends who are staying in touch are the ones that really matter.
He always did have a 'thing' about stacking dishwaters, our Dougie, I recall on your last trip down he reorganised my trays to accommodate some very large wine glasses - which he, incidentally had given us. Sorry, Dougie, but it was soon put back to normal as Victor Meldrew will not allow such large helpings at "Rowanmore" - have you ever tried drinking wine out of an eggcup!!
I intend trying Dorothy's monkfish recipe on Saturday and will let you know the results.
Love from the Kentish brigade.
